The governing body of competition ploughing in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland Ploughing Association will hold their Annual Ploughing Championships again this year after a break of two years due to the Covid Pandemic on a date to be confirmed.
There are 21 affiliated ploughing societies across NI with approx 500 members.
Ploughing matches are run by affiliated societies from September to February across the country each year for ploughmen to qualify for the opportunity to compete in the International Championships which is the only competition in Northern Ireland where ploughmen can become Northern Ireland Champions.
These championships showcase over 50 qualified competitors from NI and ROI competing in seven different classes: World Style Conventional, World Style Reversible, Vintage Class, Horse Class, Horse Style & Appearance Class and Young Farmers Class.
The Ploughing Championships is an ideal meeting place for anyone involved in agriculture, rural and heritage to see top ploughmen show off their skills for the honour of being crowned a Northern Ireland Champions.
This year NIPA have the honour of hosting the European Ploughing Championships and European Vintage Championships will take place with top reversible, conventional and vintage competitors from all over Europe. There were lots for all the family including horse ploughing exhibitions and trade stands, children s activities and other demonstrations.

This event will showcase some of the top ploughmen in Europe who will travel from Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, England, Wales, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in reversible ploughing.
This year we are delighted to be able to host a conventional ploughing class as well as a horse ploughing class.
There will be trade stands, children's entertainment, craft stalls and a vintage display among other attractions and will attract a large attendance.
Gates open 9am
Prices (Adults £10, Children under 13 children go free.
